A trade delegation from South Korea visited InVesta in Alkmaar tuesday 13th august. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange knowledge about ambitions and activities in the field of hydrogen and to lay a foundation for possible hashtag collaboration in the future. The reception was organized by Development Agency NHN in collaboration with New Energy Coalition.
The guests showed great interest in Hydrogen Valley Noord-Holland (H2Hub NH) and the various hydrogen projects and activities in the Noord-Holland region. In turn, they gave a fascinating presentation about the ambition of ‘innovation cluster’ Chungnam to become the first province in South Korea to become completely CO2 neutral. This is a region with a lot of heavy industry and high emissions.
International cooperation
To reduce emissions, Chungnam is focusing heavily on hydrogen. For example, power stations are being converted to hydrogen and half a million cars should be running on hydrogen by 2040. Several major projects have been initiated, such as a location for developing and testing parts for hydrogen cars; the construction of a large factory for electrolysers and the realization of an entire city (Boryeong City) that will run entirely on hydrogen for energy consumption.
An important part of the plans is building a network for international cooperation. The visit to Investa also fitted into this context. After a short welcome by Marcel Karres on behalf of Development Agency NHN, Joep Sanderink updated the guests about the Hydrogen Valley status and various hydrogen projects in the region. The floor was then given to Marcel Keezer, who effortlessly managed to impress with solutions from Cryoworld BV for working with liquid hydrogen (LH2).
PosHYdon for transport
During a final tour at Investa, guests could see how the green sea containers with items from PosHYdon; world’s first offshore green hydrogen production, were in the hoists for transport to their final destination: the North Sea. The group then then flew directly to Tallinn for another meeting with Hydrogen Valley Estonia.
